Nationwide Building Society partners with Dialogue to offer mobile banking services

Dialogue Communications has been selected by Nationwide to deliver SMS to configure the settings for Nationwides WAP banking members.

The Dialogue solution is being initially used to configure WAP banking access settings for Nationwide members WAP mobile phones. Over the air configuration of phones offers members the convenience of receiving pre-configured mobile banking access settings, which can be saved by a click of a button and enables secure access.

Manually configuring WAP access settings on a phone can be daunting for users and the delivery of these settings via SMS can save a lot of hassle. Over the air configuration of handsets resolves the complexity of manually entering a long string of technical instructions on a mobile phone.

Tom Harvey, Nationwides Head of External Affairs said: Our members value the convenience provided by different banking access channels both traditional and online. The Dialogue solution makes it easier for members to access WAP banking services and at the same time is a secure and reliable way of configuring access settings. Dialogue was the preferred partner for the service as its mobile messaging solutions are resilient, secure and network independent

Nationwide has received over one million registrations for its online internet banking service. Nationwide offered the UKs first retail internet banking services in May 1997, choosing to provide a service that complements, rather than replaces, more traditional channels such as the branch or phone. This recognised that customers want choice in how to do business with Nationwide. A series of further developments has extended the choice of access channels to include Personal Digital Assistants, WAP mobile Phones and Internet TV.
