Neomar Licenses Its Carrier Class Gateway Software to Earthlink for Wireless Application Support

Earthlink Taps Neomar Wireless Software to Bolster Earthlink's Wireless Service Offerings

SAN FRANCISCO, CA October 10, 2001 Neomar, a leading developer of wireless enterprise software solutions, today announced that it has secured a licensing agreement with EarthLink (NASDAQ: ELNK), one of the worlds largest Internet service providers, that will lead to the integration of Neomars Carrier Class Gateway infrastructure software into forthcoming EarthLink Everywhere wireless Internet services.

The software will initially be used to expand the functionality of EarthLinks wireless mobile handheld services on the BlackBerry(TM) manufactured by Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSE: RIM). EarthLink began offering EarthLink Wireless Email featuring BlackBerry last December, signaling the formal launch of its EarthLink Everywhere initiative. Utilizing Neomars Carrier Class Gateway software, EarthLink plans to offer Internet-based content, directory and navigational features on its BlackBerry-powered service, with the enhanced offerings slated to debut later this month.

The Neomar Carrier Class Gateway software enables wireless service providers to deliver secure access to application data and content via the latest smart devices, such as RIM BlackBerry, Palm OS, Pocket PC, and J2ME handhelds. The Neomar software will enable EarthLink to securely deliver and translate traffic sent between smart devices and the Web, with support for such open standards as WML and WTLS.

"As one of the worlds leading Internet service providers, EarthLink is already helping millions of individuals and businesses communicate every day. Neomars Carrier Class Gateway software will enable EarthLink to deliver enhanced services to more users, with the security and performance that has made Neomars software the choice of leading providers across the wireless industry, said W.R. Butch Winters, Neomars chief executive officer. Were very pleased to have this opportunity to work with EarthLink, and we look forward to working with EarthLink to bring other new service enhancements to market in the future.

"With its support for open standards, its scalability, and the flexibility that it offers EarthLink in managing remote devices, Neomars Carrier Class Gateway software will enable EarthLink to offer more enhanced services to our mobile access users, said Lance Weatherby, executive vice president of EarthLink Everywhere. Neomars technology will allow us to continue our mission to provide EarthLink subscribers with access to the Internet from wherever they are, through a variety of wireless devices.
