EZOS Announces North American Launch of EzWAP 2.0 at CTIA Wireless 2001 (WAP Forum Booth #L-1).

BRUSSELS, Belgium March 20, 2001 - EZOS, a service provider active in the field of the mobile I.T. business, announced the North American launch of its second generation of WAP micro-browsers today. The main advantages of EzWAP 2.0 include full support for WTLS and Push technologies. Platforms immediately supported include Pocket PC, HPC/2000, Desktop PC and Palm devices.
Last year, EZOS developed EzWAP 1.0, the first platform-independent WAP micro-browser that enables a variety of computing systems to access the mobile Internet environment such as: mobile devices (Pocket PCs, PC companions), embedded systems and PCs running Microsoft Windows 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows CE. Thanks to its modular design, EzWAP can be integrated into virtually any appliance, regardless of its operating system and only requires a minimum amount of software adaptation to be made.
" WTLS (Wireless Transport Layer Security) is the security standard within WAP which has been designed to secure both communications and transactions over wireless networks" states Benoit Huon - Research & Development Manager at EZOS. M-commerce (i.e. mobile commerce) is set to explode, but obviously, top quality cryptographic and certificate management technologies are basic prerequisites. Devices fitted with our up-and-coming version of EzWAP, utilizing RSA BSAFE WTLS-C, will thus be ready to be used for a variety of secured services, such as banking and trading, he adds.
As a provider of services and solutions for mobile technologies, EZOS is exploring innovative ways of working closely with equipment manufacturers. "Our aim is to encourage wider dissemination of WAP technology which is currently only available for a very limited number of devices. We want to throw wide open the doors into the WAP universe to any and every platform in order to provide access to, and facilitate the development of, services using this protocol", explains Jean-Claude Streel, Business Development Manager at EZOS.
RSA Security has always been a leader in both wired and wireless security thanks to its involvement in different organizations such as WAP, PKCS, IEEE and CDPD, to name but a few. RSA BSAFE WTLS-C contains complete high performance client and server implementations of WTLS including all three levels of authentication. RSA fully supports EZOS integration of WTLS since this will enable a whole series of applications that are out there waiting for end-to-end secured mobile transactions to actually get going, states Yves De Smet, Sales Director for the EMEA Northern Region of OEM and Strategic Alliances.
