EZOS brings WAP functionality to a Java-based card terminal

BRUSSELS, Belgium - October 3, 2000 - EZOS, a service provider active in the field of the mobile I.T.business, is proud to announce the successful adaptation of its platform-independent WAP engine to the C-ZAM/SMASH, a Java-based multi-functional terminal from Banksys.
The EZOS WAP engine is the solution for manufacturers of electronic appliances who want to quickly integrate WAP technology into their particular platform. The WAP engine is platform-independent (written in ANSI C++) which makes it easier to integrate WAP - compliant software into your product, without needing to build everything from scratch again. Today, the C-ZAM/SMASH WAP browser combines communications and payments, two highly complementary technologies, thereby opening up a communications gateway for banks, purchasers, terminal operators, retailers and end-users.

"It has taken less than 2 months to port the EZOS WAP engine onto the Banksys equipment, " states Benoit Huon - Research & Development Manager at EZOS. C-ZAM/SMASH devices fitted with EZOS WAP technology will provide an easy way to consult information in WML format as well as offering smart card, debit card and credit card facilities plus loyalty, ticketing and other applications" he adds.
The launching of the WAP browser for the C-ZAM/SMASH is a world premiere, said Vincent Roland, Vice President for Terminals and Card Applications at Banksys. The versatility of the Java-based C-ZAM/SMASH architecture and Banksys commitment to innovation have kept us ahead of the competition in this increasingly fast-paced market. Based on market response so far, we believe that the WAP browser for the C-ZAM/SMASH heralds a revolution in terminal design, with Banksys leading the way.
