MATERNA Supplies Mobile Internet Solutions to mobilkom austria

Vienna, July 17, 2000. The software company MATERNA Information & Communications has implemented the Anny Way WAP Gateway with the Anny Way WAP portal and all necessary applications for mobile Internet access to mobilkom sustria. With this new contract, another customer has been added to the list of internationally active network operators that are basing their services on the Anny Way telecommunications brand by MATERNA. The rapid implementation within a span of only three weeks has allowed mobilkom austria to be the first Austrian provider to offer WAP services to its A1 customers. The high technical standard of MATERNA products is also a key factor and together with the ongoing collaboration between the companies will guarantee mobilkom austrias continuing market leadership in Austria.
Besides Austria, the independent systems integrator MATERNA is active in numerous European countries as well as in Asia/Pacific. MATERNAs large German network operator customers Mannesmann Mobilfunk, VIAG Interkom, and E-Plus have now been joined by Austrias counterpart mobilkom austria. In addition, network operators and companies in Austria, Switzerland (Orange), Israel (Comtouch), Portugal (Telecel), Belgium (Mobistar), France, Australia (One.Tel) and Hong Kong, among others, are now customers as well. Premise for the project implementation by MATERNA at mobilkom austria: The cutting-edge role of the largest Austrian network operator was to be maintained with regard to both the introduction date and the high technical expertise of its services.
MATERNA markets its entire service portfolio in the Mobile Solutions and Unified Messaging business areas under the Anny Way telecommunication brand name. Anny Way services range from new product design and the development of new customer solutions all the way to the operation of complete added-value service concepts. Implementation of the mobilkom austria contract was based on the flexible and high-performance Anny Way WAP Gateway which supports all available WAP-compatible devices on the market. The OTA (Over-the-air) server makes configuration of mobile device data extremely simple. The selected Anny Way WAP portal allows customers to individually customize the information they want by using the Internet or a WAP interface, thereby mixing their own info cocktail from the wide range of available services. At the application level, mobilkom austria chose MATERNAs WAP-Mail, WAP-Search and WAP-Go products.
Currently, train tickets from the Austrian Railway (BB) can be requested and booked using SMS or WAP. The customers bank balance can also be requested "on the go" from any large Austrian bank. In order to ensure the continued development of technical and service-oriented applications, MATERNA and mobilkom austria will continue to work together closely. Klaus Schmid, Managing Director of MATERNA in Vienna, comments on the cooperation: Both sides profit in this partnership. On the one hand, MATERNA can provide mobilkom austria with great ideas for new services. On the other hand we receive interesting ideas about new features for MATERNA products. Infotainment and Entertainment (games) fields in particular are enjoying increasing popularity with customers. Efforts in this area will be stepped up. And all activities are directed towards Mobile Commerce, which will set new standards in electronic commerce with practical billing and security tools.
