Palisades Center Mall Signs GeePS To Provide 220 Brick-And-Mortar Retailers With Location-based Wireless Technologies

State-Of-The-Art Mall is First in U.S. to Use Mobile Commerce Technologies

WEST NYACK, NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 6, 2000 GeePS.com Inc., the first location-sensitive Wireless Applications Service Provider (WASP) focused on brick-and-mortar merchants and malls today announced it has been selected by Palisades Center - a shopping mall with 220 stores in the heart of the New York City metropolitan area - to use new mobile commerce technologies through the wireless delivery of targeted, local shopping information and news to consumers.

Palisades Center, which includes brick-and-mortar retailers Filenes, Lord and Taylor, Sports Authority, Home Depot, Target, Ann Taylor, The Gap, and Victorias Secret will become the first major mall in the United States to offer stores the opportunity to implement location-commerce technologies by sending wireless messages to consumers using regular mobile phones (voice) and WAP-enabled phones. GeePS will also provide SMS text messaging and e-mail capabilities to help the retailers reach consumers anywhere and anytime.

The agreement marks a major suburban mall implementation of GeePS.Mall technology. GeePS has developed the GeePS.Mall and GeePS.Store suite of products to help brick-and-mortar merchants and malls acquire new customers, maximize revenue, turn store inventory and enhance relationships with existing customers.

The malls 20+ million annual visitors will have the option to register on Palisades Centers Web site or through kiosks in the mall, and indicate the stores and categories from which they want to receive special promotional messages. As the retailers send these personalized real-time messages, they will appear on the media the consumer chooses - WAP, SMS, voice, or e-mail. The messages will be delivered on a pull/opt-in basis only. Consumers will not receive unwanted messages, nor will their information be sold to third parties.

Palisades Center is a state-of-the-art Mall, and were happy to have our customers be among the first in the US to use their cell phones to receive specially targeted messages from merchants of their choice, said Palisades Center general manager John Mott. "GeePS technology fits well with our efforts to develop the trend setting customer services of the future and unique shopping experiences."

This agreement with Palisades Center marks a major step for brick-and-mortar retailers using location-based wireless technologies to capture customers as they are ready to shop, said GeePS CEO Andy Goren. Palisades Center is leading retailers into the future by offering location-sensitive wireless technologies to over 220 major stores and their customers. This proves that GeePS is a very attractive tool for brick-and-mortar retailers.
