Netegrity Joins WAP Forum

Company to Help Drive Standards for Wireless Access to E-Commerce and Portal Web Sites

Waltham, MA , December 15, 1999 - Netegrity, Inc., (NASDAQ: NETE), the leading provider of software and services that manage and control user access to electronic commerce applications, has joined the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum. The WAP Forum supports the development of an open, global specification that empowers mobile users to easily access and interact with information and services instantly via the Internet through mobile phones, pagers and other wireless devices. With studies projecting wireless data traffic to surpass wireless voice transmissions as early as 2003, standards are necessary to support data transmission through these popular wireless devices. Netegrity plans to work closely with the forum to help define these standards and address the specific security requirements for wireless access protocol.

As wireless access to the Internet matures, and businesses seek to provide universal wireless access to Web-based business applications, the need for extending solutions for secure user management to mobile users becomes critical. Netegrity recognizes that companies with employees, business partners and customers accessing these sites via wireless devices will require a secure and flexible solution to ensure the integrity of highly sensitive corporate data.

Netegrity's SiteMinder is the only secure user management system that provides scalability to millions of users, and native integration with industry-standard LDAP and NT directory services, as well as SQL databases. SiteMinder deploys quickly and easily into heterogeneous environments providing centralized, robust privilege management infrastructure (PMI), multi-domain single sign-on and scalability to meet the high-traffic requirements of today's top portals and Web sites.

"Wireless devices are becoming the next generation of information access. With the use of wireless devices increasing exponentially, secure access to Web-based resources must be available for a whole new audience of users," said Scott Goldman, CEO, WAP Forum. "The WAP Forum has been developed to bring together companies from all segments of the wireless industry value chain to drive standards that ensure product interoperability and growth of the wireless market."

"Wireless access to business critical information and tools is an important step in empowering a growing population of remote and on-the-go employees, partners and customers. But with the use of wireless devices comes the challenge to develop security measures to ensure the protection of data being transmitted and accessed," said Barry Bycoff, CEO and president, Netegrity, Inc. "Netegrity is committed to working with the WAP Forum to meet the standards set for this new market to provide secure user access and management for the emerging mobile marketplace."
