Icon Medialab International Joins WAP Forum

(21 September, 1999) - Icon Medialab International, Europe's leading provider of digital communications solutions, has joined the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum, whose members include Ericsson, Siemens, Nokia, Microsoft, Telia Mobile, Motorola, and Sony.

"This is an important step in Icon Medialab's strategy to have the most prominent WAP competence in all our subsidiaries, both present and future," said Alex Nieminen, Managing Director of Icon Medialab Finland. "Icon Medialab has been active in WAP since the beginning of this year and we think that we can contribute to the WAP Forum with experience from different WAP-projects in our local offices."

Icon Medialab invests heavily in WAP technology and establishes WAP centres at all international offices. The estimate is that 75 Icon Medialab professionals will work full-time with WAP solutions before Christmas.

Icon Medialab has already WAP centres that employ 35 professionals in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark Spain and Germany. Icon WAP projects are currently running for clients such as Finnkino in Finland, Trafikanten in Norway, Airtel in Spain and Time/system in Denmark.
